Weight Loss Program:  The Weight Management Center of Maryland, which is a medically supervised weight loss program has been started at CMG. The program is a comprehensive program with behavioral, medical  and nutritional components. We will be having seminars two evenings a month to introduce you to this program. Please call us at 410-799-8770  if you would like to register for one of these seminars or would like more information about the program. You can also click here for more details about the program.

Nurse Practitioners: Centennial Medical Group employs nurse practitioners to assist with your care. Most recently, Amy Dominguez CRNP joined Susanne Gibbons CRNP and Rosanne Calure CRNP at Centennial Medical Group. The nurse practitioners provide high-quality care, similar to that of a physician. They are registered nurses with advanced education and all three have Master's Degrees in Nursing and Mrs. Gibbons has a Doctorate in Nursing. They work with the  physicians to provide high quality care to our patients and prescribe medication, order tests and perform procedures just as the physicians do. Similar to our physicians, they will consult with each other or with the physicians for difficult or complex problems.

CMG Travel Health Center :

Traveling to new and exotic places is exhilarating and exciting. Unfortunately, it can also be fraught with new diseases. Luckily many of these can be prevented with immunizations and medications. Destination Travel Health can provide an up to date recommendation on what immunizations are required for travel to the region and what immunizations are recommended but not required. Likewise prescriptions for malaria prevention and travelers diarrhea can also be provided if needed. Below is a list of vaccines we can provide if they are necessary:

Yellow Fever

Polio

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis B

Rabies

Immunoglobulin

Japanese Encephalitis

Typhoid

Meningitis

Flu (if available)

Pneumonia

Chicken pox

Tetanus

It is best to schedule a visit at least 1 month before travel because many of the vaccines require one month or more before they are fully effective. Call us at 410-799-4020 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Immunizations: Influenza, Tetanus, Pneumonia,  Meningitis, Shingles and HPV/Gardisil Vaccines

Influenza Vaccinations are no longer  available for 2007.

Tetanus Shots are now available for routine use at Centennial Medical Group Please contact us if you are due for a tetanus booster. However, please be aware that most insurance plans will only pay for tetanus boosters after a deep skin injury.

Meningitis vaccines are now  available in our office. You may contact us to obtain the immunization, or you may obtain the meningitis vaccine from your college health center.

We have pneumonia vaccinations in stock, and you can call our office to schedule     an appointment to receive one.

As of November 1,2006 our approach to the Gardisil (HPV/Cervical Cancer Vaccine) and Zostavax (Shingles Vaccine) is to write a prescription for these vaccines, and then have the patients take these prescriptions to their pharmacy. They then bring the vaccines to our office and we will administer  the vaccines.. Also please be aware that it is unclear at this time whether insurance plans will pay for Gardisil and it appears that Medicare will not pay for the shingles vaccine, so patients will have to pay for this themselves. Furthermore, there is a $10 fee for administration of the vaccines.  For more information about Gardisil click here, and for information about the shingles vaccine (Zostavax) click here.

Technology at Work:

Some latest additions to the equipment and procedures available at the       Centennial Medical Group include:

A full table DEXA (dual absorbitometry) machine to measure the bone density of the   hip and the spine, as well as evaluate the spine for previously undetected fractures.   This allows your health care providers to assess the degree of osteoporosis that  is present and to prescribe proper treatment.

Two computer based electrocardiogram machines that will allow for  faster performance of electrocardiograms as well as better results with fewer         artifacts caused by electrical interference.

A computerized pulmonary function spirometry system to evaluate lung function.

A digital holter monitor system and an event monitoring system to help assess for    the presence of arrhythmias.

A Cynosure Apogee Elite laser that will allow us to perform many types of     cosmetic procedures including permanent hair reduction, ablation of spider     veins, ablation of brown pigmented lesions and facial rejuvenation.

Ultrasound testing of the carotid arteries as well as upper and lower extremities arteries and veins are now performed weekly on site for multiple diagnoses.

Echocardiography is now performed at the office when necessary to evaluate heart function including both the contractility of the heart and the function of the heart valves.

A Body- Mass analyzer to help determine fitness levels, to be used in association with our new health and wellness- fitness program.
